Divine Energy
The divine feminine and masculine energies, referred to as Yin and Yang in the Chinese tradition or as Divine Energies in other cultures, are complementary forces that work together in a vibrant dance to maintain equilibrium and balance. Understanding Earth's or nature's energies enables one to comprehend not only the balance within the human body but also the balance prevalent in various aspects of life, including politics, food, music, history, and relationships.
Scientifically, we observe these energies manifest within the body, with testosterone representing more masculine energies and progesterone and estrogen being associated with feminine energies. However, all three are present in all humans. Another way nature shows us that we are both the divine feminine and the divine masculine.
When our divine masculine or feminine energies become imbalanced, it can disrupt the normal function of our body, mind, and spirit. Resulting in stress and dis-ease within the body.
Divine Feminine Traits: mysterious, deep, intuitive, healing, soft, nurturing, cold, negative*, expression, wisdom, patience, emotions, and flexibility.
Divine Masculine Traits: direct, surface, instinct, protecting, hard, assertive, hot/fiery, positive*, logic, driven, strength, and structured.
Note: Negative and positive are not our modern-day understanding of something being “not good”. It refers to the energy, which is negative and lies beneath the surface of the skin, and is characterized as deep and introspective. Whereas the positive is on the surface and can be seen more easily. Feminine energy takes more time to understand because you must pull back the surface layers to view the deeper layers beneath.
Fun Fact: Positive and negative forces attract each other. And are present in nature (e.g., animals), the cosmos, and the Universe.
Divine Feminine Examples (Ancient Goddesses):

Mother Mary (Christian)
Quan Yin (Chinese Buddhism)
Spider Woman or Spider Grandmother (Native American)
Divine Masculine Examples (Ancient Gods):

Interested in exploring more at home? If so, here are a few ways you can explore at home:
Yoga Exercise: Sit or stand, and clasp your hands in front of you to form a fist. When your hands naturally fold down, do you cross the right thumb over the left? Or the left thumb over the right?
Right over left, you identify more with the divine masculine
And the left over the right, you identify with the divine feminine.
Meditation: Take a moment to light a candle and still the mind, either through breathwork or mindfulness. Tune into the divine feminine energy and ask her for guidance. You can invoke a specific goddess in your practice, or you can ask the divine mother, aka Mother Nature, to provide you with the answers you’re seeking. Just say, “Speak to me through me, and provide me your divine guidance.”
Remember, everyone is both, so you can be a male who identifies with more feminine energies. An example is Brett Michaels; he is often described as a divine masculine man, yet he exudes divine feminine energy through his expressions of love, nurturing qualities, and the lyrics in his songs.
